Harmony A0 Setup Guide

Connect one source. Play it through every speaker.

Follow four steps to start the Harmony A0 Auracast five-speaker system.

Step 01 · Power

Connect power

Power Harmony A0 transmitter before connecting an audio source.

TaskTurn on the transmitter.

Connect and switch on

  1. Connect the transmitter to power with a USB-C cable and power adapter.
  2. Switch the transmitter to ON.

Step 02 · Audio source

Choose your audio source

Choose your device to open Step 3 — connection settings.

Step 03 · TV / Media Device

Connect Optical

TaskConnect Optical Out and set the TV audio format to PCM.

  1. Press AUX/OPT on the transmitter to select OPT input.OPT indicator: blinking red.
  2. Remove the clear caps from both ends of the optical cable.
  3. Connect Optical Out on the TV/source to Optical on the transmitter.
  4. On the TV/source, select Optical output and set the format to PCM.
DoneThe audio indicator responds and listeners hear the TV audio.
If notPort: use Optical Out, not In.Format: select PCM. Avoid Dolby, DTS, Bitstream, or Auto.

Step 03 · Mixer / AV System

Connect analog audio

TaskMatch the mixer output to the correct cable.

Choose the correct output and cable. The wrong cable may cause low volume, missing vocals, or poor sound quality.
  1. Select AUX inputPress AUX/OPT on the transmitter.AUX indicator: blinking red.
  2. Check the source outputLook for XLR, 6.35 mm, RCA, or 3.5 mm output ports.
  3. Choose your outputSelect the matching option below.

How many XLR outputs will you use?

Dual XLR Output

  1. Use a dual XLR female-to-unbalanced 3.5 mm TRS cable.Wrong cable? It may cause low volume or missing vocals.
  2. Connect the XLR plugs to mixer Output L / R.
  3. Connect the 3.5 mm plug to the transmitter AUX In.

Stereo mixer output recommended

Done: the transmitter audio indicator responds and listeners hear clear stereo audio.
If not:
  1. Check both plugs are in mixer Output L / R.
  2. Unmute the mixer output.
  3. Lower the mixer level.

Single XLR Output

  1. Use a single XLR female-to-unbalanced 3.5 mm TRS cable.Mono output: A single XLR carries mono audio.
    Wrong cable? It may cause low volume or poor sound quality.
  2. Connect the XLR plug to the mixer Output.
  3. Connect the 3.5 mm plug to the transmitter AUX In.

Mono output only

Done: the transmitter audio indicator responds and listeners hear the mono source audio.
If not:
  1. Check the cable is unbalanced 3.5 mm TRS.
  2. Use a mixer output jack.
  3. Unmute the mixer output.

6.35 mm Output

  1. Use the included dual 6.35 mm-to-3.5 mm cable.Wrong cable? It may cause poor sound quality.
  2. Connect the two 6.35 mm plugs to mixer Output L / R.
  3. Connect the 3.5 mm plug to the transmitter AUX In.

Stereo mixer output recommended

DoneThe audio indicator responds and listeners hear clear stereo audio.
If not:
  1. Connect both plugs to Output L / R.
  2. Unmute the mixer output.
  3. If sound is distorted, lower the source level.

RCA / 3.5 mm Output

Choose the matching output. Connect only an audio output to the transmitter AUX In.
RCA Output

Connect RCA Out to the transmitter AUX In with an RCA-to-3.5 mm cable.

3.5 mm Output

Connect 3.5 mm Out to the transmitter AUX In with the included 3.5 mm-to-3.5 mm cable.

If not:
  1. Use an audio output, not an input.
  2. Unmute the source.
  3. Raise the source volume gradually.

Step 03 · Phone / Tablet / Computer

Connect with Bluetooth

TaskPair the audio source with the transmitter Bluetooth input.

Keep your phone close to the transmitter while pairing.

  1. Start pairing: press Phone/Pair on the transmitter. Pairing light: blinking red and blue.
  2. Connect your source: open Bluetooth settings and select the transmitter.
  3. Play audio on the phone, tablet, or computer.
Keep the phone near the transmitter rather than in a pocket while pairing
For a better experience: use a wired audio input for best stability.Bluetooth range: approximately 10–15 m (30–50 ft).

How It Works: Bluetooth sends audio to the transmitter. Listeners receive it through Auracast.
If not

The transmitter not listed?

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on the previous source.
  2. Start pairing again.
  3. Move the devices closer.

Step 04 · Listen

Listen from the speakers

Before you start: finish Steps 2–3 — choose and connect your audio source.

  1. On each of the five Harmony A0 speakers, hold the Power / mode button for 2 seconds.The speaker starts in Auracast mode and searches for the transmitter.
  2. Play audio from the connected source.

Video: turn on a Harmony A0 speaker and check its mode light.

Done

Auracast light: solid orange on each speaker.

All speakers play the same audio.

If not

Light flashing orange or off?

  1. Double-press the speaker's Power / mode button to return to Auracast mode.
  2. Move the speaker near the transmitter and wait for the light to turn solid orange.

Placement

Placement tips

Transmitter

  • Place in the center.
  • Clear line of sight.
  • Up to 330 ft.

Phone

  • Keep next to transmitter.
  • Do not keep in pocket.

Optional expansion

Add speakers

Add more Auracast speakers to expand your system.

Other brands

  • Use phone app to join Auracast.
  • Auto-connect not guaranteed.

Quick help

Fix common problems

One or more speakers have no audio

Problem: The speaker light is flashing orange or off, and that speaker is silent.

Possible cause: The speaker is in Bluetooth mode, is too far from the transmitter, or the transmitter is not receiving audio.

Solution: Confirm the transmitter is on and playing audio. Double-press the speaker's Power / mode button, then move the speaker near the transmitter.

Expected result: The speaker light turns solid orange and the speaker plays the same audio as the other speakers.

Volume is too low

Problem: The speakers are connected, but the sound is too quiet.

Possible cause: The source, transmitter, or individual speaker volume is low.

Solution: Set the TV, phone, or computer volume to about 80%. Press + on the Harmony A0 transmitter, then press + on each quiet speaker.

Expected result: Audio becomes louder without losing the solid orange connection light. Open the volume guide →

A speaker will not pair by Bluetooth

Problem: The phone or computer cannot find or connect to the Harmony A0 speaker.

Possible cause: The speaker is still in Auracast mode or has an old Bluetooth pairing.

Solution: Double-press the speaker's Power / mode button. If the light does not flash red and blue, hold Play / pause for 2 seconds. Select Venucast Harmony A0 Solo in the device's Bluetooth settings. If pairing still fails, hold + and − together for 5 seconds to clear Bluetooth pairing history, then try again.

Firmware update

Update Harmony A0

Update speakers

Update each speaker separately, one at a time.

  1. Download the Firmware Update Tool.

  2. Connect one Harmony A0 speaker to your computer.

    Firmware update cable: Use the gray-tip cable included with your device.

    Mac users: an Apple charging cable also works.

  3. Run the updater.

    Follow its instructions and keep one Harmony A0 speaker connected until the update is complete.

After updating, reset each speaker.

Update the transmitter

Avantree
Update to the latest 10.x.x version.
Venucast
Update to the latest 20.x.x version.

Both versions include the same updates.

  1. Download the Firmware Update Tool.

  2. Connect the Harmony A0 transmitter to your computer.

    Firmware update cable: Use the gray-tip cable included with your device.

    Mac users: an Apple charging cable also works.

  3. Run the updater.

    Follow its instructions and keep the Harmony A0 transmitter connected until the update is complete.

After updating: reset transmitter.

PC tool · Optional

Change advanced broadcast settings

Connect the Harmony A0 transmitter to your computer.

Open the Firmware Update Tool and select Advanced.

Rename the broadcast
Change the name listeners see when they search for Harmony A0.
Encrypt the broadcast
Add a passcode so only listeners with the correct code can join.
Set the default volume
Adjust the transmitter's default broadcast volume.
Generate a broadcast QR code
Create a QR code for joining the broadcast.Requires: compatible hearing aids and an app that supports joining by QR code.
Use Group Settings
Apply the same broadcast name and passcode to multiple supported receivers. Learn about Group Settings →

Optional expansion

Extend the range

Use Daisy Chain to extend coverage.

  • Typical setup: 2 × Harmony A0 + 1 × AuraLink

Speaker mode

Use as Bluetooth Speaker

  1. Hold the speaker's Power / mode button for 2 seconds.The Harmony A0 speaker starts in Auracast mode and its light flashes orange.
  2. Double-press the same Power / mode button.Bluetooth pairing light: flashing red and blue.
  3. On your device, turn on Bluetooth and select Venucast Harmony A0 Solo.

Connected: The LED turns solid blue.

If not
  1. If the light does not flash red and blue, hold the speaker's Play / pause button for 2 seconds.
  2. Open Bluetooth settings on your source device and select Venucast Harmony A0 Solo.

Harmony A0 controls and lights

Buttons

Power / mode
Hold 2 seconds to turn the speaker on or off. Double-press to switch between Auracast and Bluetooth modes.
Play / pause
Press once to play or pause. Hold 2 seconds to search for an Auracast broadcast or enter Bluetooth pairing.
Volume + / −
Press to adjust speaker volume. Hold both buttons for 5 seconds to clear the speaker's Bluetooth pairing history.
Light / EQ
Press to turn the RGB light on or off. Hold to switch among Balanced, Voice Clear 1, and Voice Clear 2.

Status light

Flashing orange
Auracast mode; no audio is being received.
Solid orange
Auracast audio is being received.
Flashing red and blue
Bluetooth pairing mode.
Solid blue
Connected to a Bluetooth device.
Flashing red
Battery is low.
Solid red
Charging. The light turns off when fully charged.

Charging and playtime

Charge with the included USB-C cable and a 5 V / 1 A USB power source. A full charge takes about 4 hours.

Published playtime is up to 10 hours. Actual playtime varies with volume and use.
